On January 21th, the opening ceremony of Shandong University (SDU) Experimental Class and lecture of experienced teachers was held in Shandong Experimental High School (SDEHS), vice president of SDU Chen Yan and president of SDEHS Wang Pinmu signed cooperative agreements of co-sponsoring the “SDU Experimental Class”, and then attended the unveiling ceremony of the “Personnel training base of SDU”, the first “Experimental Class” of SDU began in SDEHS.

The experimental class was co-sponsored under the principle of taking advantages of both sides and training personnel jointly by SDU and SDEHS, catering to the top 200 senior one students of SDEHS of those who stands out after written examination and interview. For the training mode, virtual classes will be built, and interest groups including math, physics, chemistry, biology and Chinese will be set up, renowned professors of SDU will become students' academic mentor to provide guidance and assistance to interest development and research. Laboratory and library will create favorable conditions for students to learn, and through a variety of initiatives, potential students will grow earlier and faster to reach the top of their fields. "We have chosen five of the most preponderant subjects of SDU, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and Chinese, these five subjects are also fit the daily curriculum of high school students." vice president of undergraduate college Liu Lihua said, "in 2013,160 students have made it to the interview stage, and 92 of them were finally selected into the experimental class.

As the only academy selected from all humanities and social science department, LJS has been an active participant in building the experimental class. The dean of LJS Zheng Chun participated in the dean conference held by the president Hu Jinyan and vice president Liu Lihua of undergraduate college, and put forward some precious suggestions and opinions with regard to the construction of the class, arrangement of the Chinese group and cultivation of talents. Associate dean Li Jianfeng also participated in the opening ceremony, and introduced the subject of Chinese from different aspects from characteristic and scientific research ability to teaching resources and personnel training. Professor Wang Xiaoshu et al participated in the related activities. LJS will follow the unified deployment made by the school and undergraduate college, give full play to the discipline ascendancy of Centennial LJS, make great efforts to run the Chinese academic interest group, and eventually stimulate students of high potential to stand out.
