On the afternoon of May 11, Professor Gao Gang, doctoral tutor, Party secretary of Journalism School of Renmin University, gave a special lecture on “the Trend of Internet Information Spread and the Impact on Social Functioning”, hosted by Professor Gan Xianfeng of LJS(Literature and Journalism School ).

In his lecture, Professor Gao took the Google earth system and Microsoft cubic software for example, illustrated two basic information communication modes: information display by matching list and search by object definition. The former means real connection between the network space and real space, while the latter means that digital network can show the structure picture of human relationships, describe the specific content of social relations, and reveal the dynamic process of social relationships. Professor Gao pointed out that just because of this network information dissemination environment, privacy protection becomes a major issue in today's Internet information development. Professor Gao thoroughly explained the development of the Internet is not only a technical revolution, but also a kind of driving force of social progress. At the end of the lecture, Professor Gao emphasized the importance of the modern news dissemination enterprise for social reform and even the entire national fate.

After the report delivered by Professor Gao, participants of the seminar, most of whom were graduate students from the School of Literature and Journalism, showed great interest in this topic and expressed their opinions and questions to Professor Gao. They mainly discussed the problems such as News "Technocratic School", the conflict between news ideal and reality and public opinion hot spot. Professor Gao listened carefully and answered thoroughly all the questions. All the students and teachers appreciated Professor Gao’s wonderful lecture very much.
