The specialty of Ancient Chinese Literature has been the traditional superior discipline of our school. In the 1950s and 1960s, the group of great masters including Feng Yuan-jun, Lu Kan-ru, Gao Heng, Xiao Di-fei and others laid it a solid academic foundation, and there were also numbers of well-known scholars teaching here later on. It became the provincial key discipline in 1996. When the State Council resumed the institution of academic degree in 1981, this discipline was among the earliest group which were able to confer the master and doctorate degrees. At present, this discipline owns 9 doctorate supervisors and offers doctorate degree programs on the Literature of Pre-Qin to the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, the Literature of Wei and Jin Dynasties, the Literature of Tang and Song Dynasties, the Literature of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, Modern Literature, Popular Literature and so on. The master degree programs include the Literature of Pre-Qin Period to the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties, the Literature of Wei and Jin Dynasties, the Literature of Tang and Song Dynasties, the Literature of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, Modern Literature, History of Chinese Poetry, History of Chinese Novelty and etc., with 15 graduate tutors at this discipline.
